How to overcome this fear of driving?

I’m 14 years old and planning on taking Drivers-Ed this summer.
But today, my mom let me drive the car down a street at around 3:45pm and when I turned at the stop sign I went into someones yard. It felt like I was playing an arcade game, not gambling with my own life. It was really embarassing and has now made me scared of driving. If I can’t even drive on a little neighborhood road, how am I going to drive on the freeway?!
Any idea’s on how to gain my confidence back and feel comfortable going into driver’s ed on the first day?

In driver’s ed, they will (or should…) teach you basic car control and how to pay attention to your surroundings at all times. Seeing as you ended up driving through someone’s yard, it sounds like you need practice at doing both. Practice makes perfect and you had no practice so something bad happened. You’ll get over it.

Pay attention in driver’s ed class and during your behind-the-wheel training…and don’t drive on public roads again before you can legally do so. You’re extremely lucky you didn’t hit someone/something on your little joyride through someone’s yard. You (and your mom) would have been in some pretty significant and expensive legal trouble if you’d have hit something with while driving with no license at 14 years old.
